New Access Point From MikroTIk
MikroTik introduces new 2x2 MIMO access point wAP2n, the successor of cAP2n. This AP is ideal for indoor and outdoor deployments, cause it can be installed on wall, ceiling or at pole for garden etc...
MikroTik RouterBOARD wAP is a small weatherproof wireless access point for mobile devices and ideal for outdoor installation, be it in the garden, on the porch or anywhere else wireless access may be required for your phone or computer.
I comes with mounting kit and special screw driver, and its case is anti-vandal, cannot be opened without it.
New Features from MikroTik
This access point supports new MikroTik wireless-rep package, witch has great new features
- wireless repeater mode
- wireless background scan
- saving wireless scan results to file
- step feature for the scan-list
CAPsMAN and wAP?
Of course it works, cause its ment to be part of CAPsMAN controller. And yes, new wireless package support CAPsMAN. Soon I will replace my cAP2n AP with this unit, cause it has two chains and i expect to work much better.

Price - Buy
Sugegested price is $45 and it is very cheap device, and with 4 of these you can cover some event with 200 people. If you plan something bigger, you should wait for dual band model, witch will be few dollars more.
Black or White
It also comes in black, so you can easly install it and match your wall colour :) It look realy good. It is very small, its smaller than you think. My opinion is that looks very attractive and modern, will not look ugly if you intstall it properly - hide cable :)
cAP vs wAP
cAP has very poor performance for todays standards. Bad anntena design, 1x1 802.11n single band with low power wlan interface. Witch cAP I can achive max 20-30Mbits real bandwidth@20mhz channel. Cause wAP has 2x2 MIMO configuration, I expect to achive at least 50Mbits. You will se test results between wAP and hAP lite - real life situation :)
Bandwidth Test
My goal here is to connect two devices at small distance, and measure bandwidth @20 and @40Mhz channel. After that, will try the same thing trough two walls. To see bandwidth and how wifi signal penetrate.
1st test will be messured by MikroTik Bandwidth test tool integrated inside Router OS. UDP test each direction, cause TCP will crush this tini CPU :)
2nd test will be TCP between two computers with iPerf, to avoid CPU bottleneck at MikroTiks.
I will create separate article about bandwidth test :) Follow me :)
