MikroTik hAP lite Review

MikroTik hAP lite or RB941 is a new small device form latvian company. It is actually the cheapest MikroTik device ever with price about $25. It's name hAP stand for Home Access Point. It's great for home enviroment, witch some exclusive features, witch costs much more!

Ports

It has 4 Ethernet ports instead 5 on RB750, and all ports are FastEthernet. Ethernet LED diods are at back.

Power Adaptor

It is a first device with 5V DC power supply. It can be powered via Power Bank battery. Your mobile phone charger can power this device. Cool right?!

Wireless Radio

It has dual chain radio, or 2x2 MIMO 802.11n @2.4 GHz. That is real advantage of this device. 

You can reach up to 240Mbps in 2x2 MIMO configuration@40MHz.

Great Features

This tiny device has built in RouterOS witch has great features! For example, VPN, Bandwidth Limiter, Firewall, Access Point...

Best in $25 Category

You can't imagine that $25 device can offer so much features, for example BGP! It's small but powerful enough to make job done in enviroment without crazy amonut of bandwidth.

CAPsMAN Support

Works great as CAP in large CAPsMAN enviroment! Can provide enough wifi coverage for about 20 devices easly.

Some Cons

• Does not have POE in
• It is not dual band - no wifi @5GHz
• 5V DC power supply can be advantage but also problem to integrate into system with some batteries with higher voltage.
• WiFi adapter is not so powerfull

Last Words

Amazing device for the money. Great for beginers and people who want to learn about networking. Great as a first MikroTik device and for discovering RouterOS.
